David Lake at Matt and Phreds Jazz Club, Tib Street

David Lake’s first professional photography project was as one of the official Lomo photographers for Manchester’s Commonwealth Games in 2002 in the commemorative book “Spirit”. His iconic style and healthy appetite for the printed image soon found Lake being booked for a number of other projects.
His next major project was to cover the devastating effects of the Asian Tsunami in 2004; making several trips to the Khao Lak area of Thailand for two UK based charities. An exhibition “People of the Tsunami” followed in Manchester that same year.
Lake’s first solo exhibition, “Pole to Pole”, covered a variety of travel images from around that period was organised by Comme Ca Art, who also included Lake’s works on the Comme Ca Art web site print shop.
The jazz images for Manchester Art Map were taken over the week of this year's Manchester Jazz Festival. His impressive portraits have earned him the title of ‘In-house Photographer’ for Matt & Phred’s Jazz Club.
