Adia Millett Solo Exhibition
10.09.04 – 06.11.04

Fresh from her solo exhibition in Los Angeles, Comme Ca Art begins the autumn exhibition programme with a show by the acclaimed Californian artist Adia Millett.

For her most ambitious exhibition to date, Millett has created eight miniature, one-inch-to-one-foot scale buildings modelled after Chicago brick housing units. Intricately crafted on the exterior with miniature bricks and tiny trim, Millett fills the interior ground floor and first floor of each building with objects indicating poetic corresponding narratives. In one of the buildings, the bottom floor is painted copper and the dimly lit room is empty except for a staircase and delicate white vases all over the floor. Upstairs, almost the entire room is tiled except for part of the walls with green paint peeling off of them. The only thing in that room is a large industrial sink and a roll of toilet paper. Accompanying the sculptures will be a series of seductive photographs of the interiors furthering notions of impending tension, class structure/struggle, solitude and desire.
