The Malt House Specialist Dental Treatment Centre has invited Comme Ca Art to curate their forward thinking surgery which includes; the reception area, seminar room and lounge/gallery area. In keeping with the ambience of the surgery and its modern Scandinavian feel, the works on show present a contemplative presence with abstract and digitally morphed figurative prints and paintings that echo the contours of imaginary landscapes.

Howard Fisher, a leading Manchester abstract painter, based at Rogue Artists Studios, continues to employ his stark and compelling abstract gestures of X’s and diagonal lines that are strategically placed within washes and layers of dark blues, burnt orange and golden yellow oils. The surfaces of Fishers canvasses and prints are reminiscent of healed scar tissue and night time aerial surveys of mountainous terrain.

John Haworth, a Lancashire based printmaker, begins with a figurative photographic portrait or a sample of a previous print of which he then puts through several Photoshop filters and various digital manipulations until a desired and often abstract result occurs. Haworth’s digital prints are usually vibrant abstractions with a dominating bright colourfield and occasionally a ghost trace of a figure or a facial profile will appear.

Fiona Moate, a leading Manchester based abstract painter, presents a new series of works that are concerned with our understanding of ‘the landscape and its history’ along with furthering her interest in formal abstraction by adding and layering text within the dark and saturated areas of her canvasses. Moate’s paintings are often melancholic, with hues of grey’s, purples and blues dominating the picture surface. These are typically intersected by the odd squiggled line, geometrical shape and patterned motif filled with pastel yellows, pinks or a dirty orange.
