Sophie Nixon was born in Cheshire and graduated with a BA Honours in Fine Art from the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and now lives in Manchester. Her work is influenced by time spent in city and landscapes.

Working from photos taken randomly during her commute and manipulated both digitally and manually, she is drawn to reflective light and movement, evoking a captured moment or a chance meeting. Sophie is inspired by the early city scenes of Edward Hopper as well as the later abstract works of Rothko, and has more recently been introduced to the work of Jock McFadyen and Ben McLaughlin.

Sophie has exhibited at the Augenweide Gallery in Munster, the 'Comme Ca Limited Edition Print' exhibition, 'Urban Arcadia', the 'Region' exhibition sponsored by New Balance Footwear, Chorlton Arts Fair and The Waterside Open. Her work is in both private and commercial collections.
