Frank Cohen, the Cheshire-based entrepreneur and art collector, has unveiled a selection from his remarkable collection of modern and contemporary art at The Comme Ca Art Gallery, Manchester.

Thought to be the biggest collection outside of London, The Frank Cohen Collection comprises more than 500 pieces of modern and contemporary art - mainly paintings and sculpture by British, and contemporary German artists.
The exhibition focuses on the collection’s young and emerging artists. These are artists Cohen has found particularly interesting while visiting artists, art schools and up-and-coming galleries around the world.

While these are yet to become household names, many of them have already attained a strong reputation in the cognoscenti’ art world for their talents, intellect and innovation.
The exhibition will include works by Kenny Hunter, Sophie Von Hellerman and Albert Ochlen.

The show, to run at the gallery March 29th to May 3rd 2003, will feature works displayed in both a conventional gallery setting, while further artworks will be displayed in the unit adjacent to the gallery and will feature sculptures by Rachel Feinstein and video works by Lindsay Seers.

Cohen says: "There is a growing contemporary art scene in Manchester and the North which Comme Ca Art has been nurturing. I would love to see the international world flourish here, and it is a pleasure for me to be able to help in doing so."

Comme Ca Art director Claire says: "The Frank Cohen collection is rightly regarded as the most significant outside that of Charles Saatchi's in this country. We are honoured to have been asked by Frank to curate an exhibition of such calibre.

"While some work has been shown before, many of the pieces have been hidden away for too long. We are sure this show will excite the art audience in Manchester and the North and make those outside the city aware of the burgeoning art market and demand for contemporary art."
