LPC invited Comme Ca Pr to curate a contemporary visual arts
exhibition for the launch of this newly modernised office
development.
Having visited The Mill in early December 2001, Alyson Doocey
and Claire Turner, of Comme Ca Pr, were immediately impressed
with the way this 19th Century building had been redesigned,
creating the most up to date loft style open plan office spaces
in the city.
"LPC have created this new style office environment with
the intention of attracting creative and media professionals
who will fully appreciate the latest technical specifications
that are available to all tenants." says Claire Turner
"We want to curate an exhibition that celebrates the
advance technologies used within these professional areas
through the works of cutting edge new media, digital and installation
artists."
This exhibition became a journey through the building, starting
in the reception with video works by Mike Dawson, Jane Griffiths,
Janet Griffiths and Jane Holt displayed on state of the art
plasma monitors.
The voyage continued on the first floor with the multidimensional
works of Hilary Jack, Vincent James, Ruth Moilliet, John Murray
and Helen Plaumer, reacting to the volumes of the newly designed
loft suites and the environment surrounding The Mill.
The conceptual artists were complemented by the works of digital
artist John Haworth and action artist Andrew Bracey, taking
full advantage of the flexible spaces within the building.
There was also an exclusive presentation of new media works
by artist, Patrick Flynn, represented by Comme Ca Art throughout
the preview evening.
