Sunken Galleon by Mark Winkley
Photographic Image

Fablescapes is a series of large-scale rural landscapes, shot by photographer Mark Winkley.  The scenes are set during that magical time between dusk and night, and are dramatically lit, giving them a slightly haunting fairytale feel.  Each image creates the setting for a story; with the title and the image giving the viewer the opportunity to create their own narrative.

Mark is based in the North West, and has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions throughout the UK.  Through photography he deals with a wide range of subjects and his style encompasses landscape, abstract work and portraiture

Recent series include a collection of images based around Welsh fables and a sequence of images studying the passage of light from planes, boats and cars as they move through landscapes. For the last decade, Mark has produced advertising, fashion, portraiture and editorial photography, including work for leading fashion magazines. He has had several successful exhibitions at venues including Manchester’s Cornerhouse Gallery and the Greenroom.

Mark Winkley’s exhibition is also part of Comme Ca Art’s inaugural ‘ArtMap MCR’ exhibition, taking place across Manchester city centre from the beginning of August until the end of September. For further details please visit:
