In the summer of 2002, Comme Ca Art opened a gallery space at the Award Winning Urban Splash development, Timber Wharf, in Castlefield, Manchester.

Due to the nature of Comme Ca’s business, we have since started to work with the prestigious Lowry Hotel, where Comme Ca Art has a new 24hour gallery space.

In January 2005, Comme Ca Art was invited to take part in The Lowry Hotel’s exhibition programme. Comme Ca brought a new look to the exhibitions by showcasing some of the most outstanding contemporary artworks being created in the North West and beyond.

The first year saw exhibitions by the Little Artists, Vincent James and Martin Nash. Comme Ca also introduced a new annual Lowry Hotel Exhibition, consisting of a group show featuring all 2D art disciplines. “Being invited to take part in the prestigious Lowry Hotel art exhibitions was incredible.” says Claire Turner; “The first floor gallery area is literally seen by hundreds of people every week who are either staying at the hotel or enjoying the restaurant or spa facilities. It’s also become the first twenty-four hour gallery space in the North West. You can visit the space at any time, early morning over breakfast, midnight over cocktails or even at five o’clock in the morning. I love the idea of somebody thinking, ‘I can’t sleep’ and instead of walking through the aisles of a supermarket, taking in an exhibition at the Lowry Hotel!”

Comme Ca’s mission statement has always been to bring art and design to the forefront of people’s everyday life.

Having successfully conquered the alternative cafe bar, hotel, department store and restaurant venues for show casing artists works to the general public, a gallery environment as Salon des Arts was a natural move for this forward thinking company and by working with the Lowry Hotel, the gallery in the hotel means more people can view artworks at their leisure.

The line up for 2007 includes shows by Adrian Pritchard [19th April – 29th May], John Hamilton [31st May – 10th July], Amy Russell [12th July – 21st August], Matt Davies [23rd August – 2nd October] and Hannah Wooll [4th October – 12th November]. The year ends with the annual Lowry Hotel Group Exhibition, opening on Thursday 15th November 2007.
