Through the success of the cafe bar scene, Comme Ca Art was approached by a number of Manchester based companies who were interested in taking the idea of a changing exhibition programme into their own work environments.
One such company who worked with Comme Ca for many years was Executive Business Channel Ltd. EBC Ltd. were based in a Grade II listed building, The Edgar Wood Building, based on the outskirts of Manchester City Centre. Its namesake, Arts & Crafts Architect Edgar Wood at the end of the 19th Century, built this impressive Church like structure. The original reading room became EBC’s boardroom and gallery. During the time EBC was based at The Edgar Wood Building, Comme Ca organised an impressive line up artists and exhibitions including, an exhibition by the sculptor, Guy Reid, who was commissioned to create a sculpture for the Trafalgar Square Plinth, London.
Another office environment was the recess areas of a large business park in Warrington based Birchwood Park. Both EBC Ltd. and Birchwood Park provided Comme Ca’s artists with new audiences, leading to both private sales and corporate commissions. The art works also proved to be a welcome addition to the working environment and in the case of EBC Ltd., opened up a whole new dialogue between the company and their clients.
Other companies, including Keoggs Solicitors, based in Bolton
have preferred to purchase art works for their office environments.
