Rules of entry

Artists cannot enter their own work, but should be nominated by a member of the public. The prize will be open to nominated artists who live and work in the named regions of the North OR have exhibited in the named regions of the North in the twelve months before 30th May 2004.

To be eligible for entry, artists must demonstrate a minimum of five years working independently of university or art college. Undergraduates with a minimum of five years independent art experience, who may be studying for a PHD or MA, are also eligble to enter.

The regions of the North of England for the purposes of the Comme Ca Art Prize will be based on the same geographical boundaries as that of the regional arts councils of the Arts Council of England, namely the Arts Council of England North West, Yorkshire and North East.

Nomination forms have been distributed through the arts councils across the three regions.

Work can be entered in any media. The deadline for entries is 27th August 2004.
The artists short-listed from these entries will be asked to exhibit their work at Urban Splash's Old Haymarket Building, 26 - 33 Old Haymarket, Liverpool, in November 2004. The shortlist will be announced on the 16th September 2004.
The jury will decide the winning artist based primarily on the work exhibited by the short-listed artists at Urban Splash's Old Haymarket Building.

The winning artist will be announced on Thursday 25th November 2004 as part of the Liverpool Biennial.
