COMME CA WINTER EXHIBITION at The Lowry Hotel

50 DEARMANS PLACE | CHAPEL WHARF | MANCHESTER | M3 5LH | EX DATES: 02.12.20 - 26.01.21

Comme Ca Art love pairing different artists works and for the Winter Exhibition at the Lowry Hotel they have brought together two firm favourites with Comme Ca’s collectors, Rebecca Davy and the Little Artists exhibiting alongside Rachael Addis, a brand new artist working with Comme Ca.

These subtle pairings showcase how different artworks can live within a private home environment or in a corporate setting and being the winter exhibition, we couldn’t resist adding some of Rebecca Davy’s Gingerbread House paintings.

RACHEL ADDIS
Returning to the UK, and the Lake District in particular, her current work seeks to establish a contemplative and meditative aspect, both for the viewer and herself. As a contemporary painter she is based at Rogue Artists studios in Manchester.

Rachael gained a BA. (Hons), in Fine Arts at Manchester Metropolitan University, and then progressed to the MA programme at The Royal Academy Schools, in London.
She is presently a Lecturer in Contemporary Art Practice at UCEN Manchester teaching Degree level students successfully. Following a break Rachael seriously took up painting again in 2018.

REBECCA DAVY
Rebecca Davy is a Manchester based artist, graduating in 2003 with a BA (Hons) Fine Art Painting degree from Manchester Metropolitan University. Her exhibitions include Northern Graduates 03 at the New Academy & Curwen in London, and later took part in the ‘Young Gods’ show at the Clapham art Gallery where her work was described as “eerie and strangely appealing.”

Rebecca’s primary subject is painting, the seductiveness and sensuousness of pushing paint on canvas. The imagery she uses, whether they are people, places or objects are chosen in order for her to arrange a composition that is full of luminosity, light, and colour, often with a hint of the macabre.

LITTLE ARTISTS
The Little Artists' work explores the iconic, as they draw on figures and events in recent art history in an attempt to understand the significance of art and the culture that creates it. Their use of playful and irreverent materials makes their work accessible and enjoyable, but is also intended to explore more complex issues.

The Little Artists attempt to make clear the status of artist as brand and artwork as merchandise, investigating complex issues of process, identity, authorship, branding, and art’s relationship to consumerism.
