Born in Manchester, Robert worked as an advertising photographer for over 27 years before taking the decision to concentrate on personal projects in 2007.

“After years imposing myself on my subjects it has been liberating to adopt a hands off approach, to quietly observe and record the world around me.“

Whether it is the quiet of an empty beach or the chaos within a city, he strives to capture the essence in a timeless, understated way.

These images of Venice and Rome have been taken over the last 3 years and set out to capture the style, beauty and character of two of the most unique cities in the world
