COMME CA ART at the LOWRY HOTEL | The exhibition runs from 12.07.18 - 04.09.18

THE LOWRY HOTEL | 50 DEARMANS PLACE | CHAPEL WHARF | MANCHESTER | M3 5LH

Comme Ca Art has brought six artists together for this fresh and vibrant Summer Exhibition at the Lowry Hotel. Focusing on different painting forms and techniques, the exhibition aims to showcase the range of works being produced by Manchester based artists.

SUSAN AGGARWAL

Enthused by nature and her passion for creativity, Susan Aggarwal loves to explore wonderful colours and textures with an abundant sense of freedom. Her collection of expressive work is a very personal representation of Susan’s very own experience of life, beauty, the natural world and her artistic response to it. The paintings in exhibition are part of a brand new series of works based on the Colours of Pride.

REBECCA DAVY

Rebecca Davy’s primary concern when creating her artworks is the act of painting itself. Her focus is on what she describes as “the seductiveness and sensuousness of pushing paint on canvas”. She is particularly attracted to painting the colourful, the ephemeral and the kitsch, constructing paintings with a strong element of light and colour that satisfies both the subject and its medium.

DEBBIE GOLDSMITH

Debbie Goldsmith's paintings are a vibrant mix of drawing, mark making and painterly abstraction, using her surroundings to inform her paintings. She exhibits regularly, works to commission and has work in both public and private collections.

MARTIN NASH

"My painting, which has become increasingly more abstract, is concerned with exploring … colour, mark making, pattern and that elusive and mysterious quality that makes a good painting. In my most recent sculptural work the painted surface has become the raw material for the three dimensional form. …I think there will always be a decorative element in my work, in as much as I want to excite the eye as much as stimulate the mind."

CHRISTOPHER RAINHAM

Christopher brings to the fore a sense of naturalistic beauty without being overbearingly technical. The birds in his works are accurately painted and still harness the expression of the artist’s hand. The delicate use of colour and attention to detail imbues each work with a sense of individual personality.

SIMON TAYLOR

Simon Taylor’s photoreal paintings transcend not only photography but painting itself. Just as in a film, where subtle changes in narrative can be indicated by moving the focus of the camera, Simon directs the viewer’s eye to a sheer line of focus down the centre of the main subject in his latest work. Everything around it shimmers in a pictorial hinterland of peripheral vision. The surfaces are miraculous, smooth; they look as if the image has been projected onto the canvas; there is no evidence of a worked surface, even on very close examination.
