The STARTS Award was launched in 2023 to help talented individuals in the military community kickstart and develop a career within the arts. It provides a platform to enhance skills, to build connections with peers, professional organisations and individuals, to aid their transition from amateur to professional creatives. Through the programme, participants learn what will be expected of them in a professional creative environment. It provides support to allow them to learn those skills at an appropriate pace for each individual.
This year the winning STARTS Award artists were given the brief of “Different Perspectives”, and their work showcases watercolour painting, oil painting, acrylic painting and drawing in pen and pencil. Whilst each artist has their own sense of self within the works, the link throughout the exhibition can be seen in these beautiful, thoughtful artworks.
The STARTS Awards artists are exhibiting alongside Comme Ca Art professional artists, Susan Aggarwal, Christopher Rainham and Alan Yaffe.
Since the launch of The STARTS Award, the response has been overwhelmingly positive in terms of the number and quality of submissions received, and the feedback from the military community -
