Whilst the Lowry Hotel bar and restaurant are undergoing an exciting refurbishment, we have brightened up the gallery space with beautiful, colourful paintings by Susan Aggarwal and John Cake. The artists have a very different approach to painting but the dynamics within their brush strokes and use of colour surprisingly compliment each other. Go take a peek. 

 

SUSAN AGGARWAL

Enthused by nature and her passion for creativity, Susan Aggarwal loves to explore wonderful colours and textures with an abundant sense of freedom. Her collection of expressive work is a very personal representation of Susan’s very own experience of life, beauty, the natural world and her artistic response to it.

JOHN CAKE

John's new works are about rebuilding the creative process into a more honest and enjoyable one. Forcing a way out of learned habits, gestures or patterns by removing as much personal choice as possible.
Abstract paintings are based upon an experimental approach to drawing, in combination with digital processes that employ chance and algorithms, to create compositions that surprise and also disgust.
