Comme Ca Art is delighted to bring Susan Aggarwal, Jo Manby and Sophie Nixon together for the Lowry Hotel Three Perspectives Exhibition. All three artists are established within their art practice and each one brings a different narrative to their work. Comme Ca Art seeks to showcase artists with different styles to showcase how artworks can sit harmoniously together.

SUSAN AGGARWAL

Enthused by nature and her passion for creativity, Susan loves to explore the beautiful facets of colour and array of changing textural experiences. Captivated by the smells and wondrous wildlife whilst out walking in her rural home ground, Susan takes this to the studio and expresses this on canvas.

‘I try to capture the joy, emotion, dance, and movement of floral, coastal, and landscapes. Working in acrylic paint I enjoy the freedom and looseness of a palette knife. Nature flows and moves and does its own thing. Nature feeds us with a sense of freedom, it offers such healing qualities and it is that which I try to bring to the canvas.’ And so the many who view my work and live with it in their homes may enjoy and be touched with such beauty."

JO MANBY

Jo Manby's brand new Koi paintings depict fish in shimmering, starlit silvery pools. Platinum pearl lustre powder mixed with acrylic paint medium create gleaming light effects. Delicate lily pads and glowing white flowers add to the subtle landscape in which the fish reside.

A freelance painter, editor and writer, Jo has longstanding experience of curating and project management in galleries and museums. She has practiced as an artist and art critic since graduating in English Literature and Art History at the University of York following a Foundation Art course at North Staffordshire University and currently edits online art journal, the Fourdrinier.

SOPHIE NIXON

Sophie’s paintings are inspired by her life, the conflict between her busy career and social life in Manchester and the slower pace of the time she gets to paint and travel around Europe, especially Italy where her father lives. These two sides to her are played out in the dramatically different styles of painting; vivid representations of the buildings and people that form her cityscapes, capturing the essence of the sulphuric lights and blurred visions of a Manchester night to the sublimely calm, bright sunlight casting shadows on a lone building or figure. Whichever scene Sophie is painting she is always drawn to a particular person or event.

The exhibition is open daily from 10:00 - 22:00 and is on the first floor of the Lowry Hotel.
