The Art Exhibition collaboration between the Comme Ca Art and INNSiDE by Meliã Manchester brings three artists together for the most colourful exhibition we have ever curated!

The hotel’s commitment to local culture and alternative gallery venue pioneer Comme Ca Art sees the first floor level of the hotel transformed into an exhibition space displaying artworks by contemporary artists who have an affiliation with Manchester.

​

Rotating on a quarterly basis, Comme Ca Art bring both up and coming and established artists to the hotel. This second exhibition sees works by four local artists, who all have their own unique style of work:

BIG H

BIG H’s art is mainly a mixture of graffiti and pop art with popular culture his subject matter. His art often satirises current issues in society such as celebrity culture, power and commercialism.
With his art he wants to arouse the senses and stir the spirit and to visually stimulate the observer through strong images, colour, patterns and words.
He often enjoys the look and feel of tight and accurate geometric lines mixed with strong vibrant colours and bold patterns surrounding a central figure from the world of popular culture.

In April 2022, BIG H wowed the audience with his first solo exhibition, almost selling out in the first week. His new series of works concentrates on iconic graffiti emblems, mixing them with his own unique take on popular culture. In one painting, a Storm Trouper shelters under a pink umbrella whilst in another painting Mickey Mouse and Ronald McDonald hold hands with a Banksy-eque Monkey.

BIG H graduate in 2022 with a MA in Fine Art. His original paintings are in private collections within the UK, Europe, the USA and Canada.

In the fall of 2022, BIG H launched his first Limited Edition Print Collection in association with Comme Ca Art Dealers.

 

MR EGGS

Since his earliest days, Mr Eggs has always had a love and appreciation of art. He’s a born and bread Mancunian and proud of his working class roots. From discovering Street Art in his teenage years, he traveled far and fast and after taking a hiatus for several years, he’s back.

“Many of the works on display originated on walls of the North West. First and foremost, art should be accessible and what's more accessible than a brick wall? People have said my work is up-lifting; it speaks to them. Art can be a form of social commentary, and my brushes and cans are my mouthpiece.” Mr Eggs

ALAN YAFFE

When Alan takes hold of a blank canvas, there’s an excitement that’s hard to explain. The creative possibilities are infinite and, for Alan, abstraction offers up all those possibilities.

HIs creativity is not bound by the real world and, quite often, not even by his imagination. Sometimes he paints in a planned manner, knowing, at the start, what will or won’t work. But often, he doesn’t begin with a clear idea. The beauty of applying paint to canvas is that Alan is able to let the image develop as he builds up the composition with layers, texture and colour until arriving at an end point… a finished painting. That end point often takes Alan by surprise in an amazing & uplifting way.
