Manchester born, Craig Simpson has spent the last few years honing his painting skills in Brighton. Now back in Manchester, this will be Craig's first solo exhibition in his home town.
Craig Simpson is inspired by the 1940's and 1950's. Not only does this influence his painting but everyday life, including clothing and music taste. In this show Craig has focused his subject matter on Jazz Clubs from the same era, capturing musicians, dancers and audience members in sweaty, dimly lit clubs and ballrooms of Harlem and London. Craig handles the paint in a loose and thick impressionist style, capturing the energy and movement in each of the figures.
